Senior Software Engineer

Description

The successful candidate will work within the New Product Development department designing software on a range of new medical devices.

Overall responsibilities will include producing software requirements specifications, the development of software system architecture, input to risk analysis, failure mode analysis of the software, and acceptance testing of the software. The role may also include the proposal and introduction of new design processes and tools for the software engineering team to improve productivity.

Qualified to HNC or Degree level in Software Design. This will be a degree in software design, electronics with an embedded software element or Computing. (Other degrees may also be acceptable if the experience is suitable e.g. Physics)
The ideal candidate will have 10 years relevant experience working as a software engineer, with at least 5 of these working as a lead engineer, system architecture designer or senior software designer
Must have at least 5 years experience programming in C and programming for real time systems with an embedded operating system such as Windows or Linux.

Ideally experience should include working for a medical device manufacturer, and have a good understanding of software development for safety critical applications.
Should have knowledge of software architecture design using a structured design methodology, and have experience of working to applicable standards, CE marking and FDA regulations, for example EN/ISO13485, EN/ISO60601, EN/ISO62304, MDD 93/42/EEC and 2007/47/EC.
